Obituary of Bernard Mallory
Mr. Bernard Leon Mallory was born in Hammondvale on July 22, 1937. He was the son of the late Lee and Muriel (Anderson) Mallory.
He grew up in Hammondvale, NB where he attended school. As a young man, he enjoyed working on the farm in and around the Sussex area and for the Conners Brothers in Blacks Harbour. He later went to Toronto where he worked for the CNR. After he and Jackie were married, they lived in Toronto for a short while and they longed to move back home.
Bernard went to work for the Kings County Memorial Hospital as a janitor then moving on to work for Irving Oil delivering oil. He took over Charles Crowe’s business Texaco Canada and had it for several years before he went to work for the Irving Sawmill until his retirement.
He loved going to his sawmill in Jeffries Corner and he loved to watch the deer out of his window at home. All his life he was a big fan of all sports, but he especially loved to watch his beloved Blue Jays. He had a passion for playing cards; especially crib and 45’s, he loved to bowl and enjoyed playing ball for the Poodiac Panthers.
He loved playing music with his brother-in-law, Doug for dances and gatherings around the community.
