Obituary of Frederick Jones
The death of Frederick H. Jones of Penobsquis, New Brunswick, occurred on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at the Sussex Health Centre. Born in Saint John, NB on June 8, 1935. Fred was the son of the late Harold and Hattie Muriel (McAllister) Jones.
Fred had a passion for life; he was employed in his early years as a journeyman carpenter in construction. He had a love for business and during his life he jointly created several successful businesses, namely Diamond Taxi and Loch Lomond Bus Services, he also owned and operated two lottery retail sales kiosks.
Fred joined the Armed Services and served 5 years in the Carleton York reserve. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 20. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and most of all he enjoyed people.
Fred is survived by his son Franklin (Wendi), and their children Alexander and Nikole, his daughter Shelly (Thomas Jr.) Bradsell, granddaughters: Tara Dowd (Will,) Melinda (Brian) Lanacone and Tamara Bustard, great-grandchildren: Mackenzie, Bradley, Brayden and Wiley, three sisters: Gladys Wilson, Georgie Knight, Barbara Seely; also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by the love of his life Helen Tayes, sons Fred Jr., Tom, brother Allison, sisters Florence, Shirley and Dora.
Arrangements are under the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506) 433-1176. A funeral service will be held from Wallace Community Chapel at 11:00AM on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. A private internment will take place at a later date.
