Helen was born in 1920 and raised as a farm girl on a dryland farm in Southern Alberta to the late George and Mary A. (Brydon) Millar. That began a lifelong love for animals and gardens that provided her endless hours of satisfaction. It also gave her the background necessary for providing the love, friendship and practical advice that her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends so desperately needed. She entered nursing in Lethbridge, Alberta, in 1941 and graduated shortly before taking up her full time career as an army wife in 1943. With her husband, Dr. Virgil Korth; she raised six kids, all boys, in nearly all parts of Canada. Just surviving that required a stalwart faith and a robust sense of humour. Helen had plenty of both.
