George Davis

Obituary of George Elwood Davis

Mr. George Elwood “Sonny” Davis was born in Berwick, NS on February 27, 1940. He was the son of the late Clifford and Evelyn (Mallam) Davis. Sonny grew up in Hatfield Point and was the epitome of a true outdoorsman. He loved to take the family camping as he never turned down a chance to go fishing. He also took great enjoyment in tying his own flies. He had a true passion for hunting – deer, moose and even ducks. He was a definite lover of animals. He was a hardworking man. Welding was not just a job to him; it was a passion and something he took great pride in. He got his start with Kelso’s Machine Shop, later moving to Sussex Machine Shop and then retiring from Debly’s Construction. Sonny was a past president of the Fish and Game Association and taught the safe gun handling course for several years. He was a salt of the earth, give the shirt of his back type of man. He would never want to see anyone go without and would help anyone he could. He had a deep love of family – so much so that he married the mother of his children twice. Being with Elizabeth, gave George purpose and they had the best of love stories. How many people can say that they were able to rekindle their first love after so many years. They were able to share their love story with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They made the perfect pair: Sonny loved to eat, Elizabeth loved to cook and Sonny could open all those pesky jars that Elizabeth just couldn't manage. They were a force to be reckoned with and a love to aspire for. He will live on in the hearts of his beloved wife, Elizabeth (Ward) Davis; his daughters: Kimberly Carhart and her husband Randy of Apohaqui and Tammy Mason and her husband Ronnie of Wards Creek; his grandchildren: Courtney Conrad and her husband Gavin, Ryan Carhart, Krystal Ridgway and her husband Chris, Christopher Mason and his wife Jessica; his great grandchildren: Micah, Callie, Jadon and Benjamin Conrad, Aiden Ridgway, Skylar Mason and Andrew, McKenzie and Matthew Mason; as well as several cousins and extended family members.
