Words seem to fail me at this time but my heart is so full of gratitude.
Nancy and I taught at Holy Trinity School for over 30 years and what great years they were.
It wasn't long before I became a part of the Carr family as well, dropping in to partake of a
spontaneous meal: there was always enough to go around.Ralph, Nancy and family had a special gift of
Hospitality that put me at ease to the point I would open their door and say"What's for supper?"
Nothing was an effort for Ralph," just sit down and make yourself comfortable, Nicky." I shared so much of life giving and receiving love in the joy and pain of it all. How blessed I am to be a part of this family. I know Ralph that when I meet you at the gate you will welcome me in to the fullness of the Ressurected life. Well done good and faithful friend, Love Nicky

Nancy and Michael.... You both know how much I loved Ralph. He was like a younger version of my dad in a lot of ways. I remember when I first met him - during the Corporate Challenge (Country Living Days). I was racing against him, carrying an egg on a spoon. He left an imprint on my heart from that day on. Ralphy was the one who saved my sanity in many situations. He also got me out of a few self-inflicted jams, which we laughed about many years later. He was truly one of a kind. I smile know he's with Porq again, and that dad is there with both of them. Heaven will be laughing every day now, and knowing it's because of those 3 amigos - makes me happy. Love and hugs to you both. Moe

Ralph and Nancy are very special to us. Nancy looked after my two children when they were very small. It was so convenient just running across the street to drop and pick them up. Ralph even came and stayed with my oldest(Katie) in the middle of the night when I and my husband went up the the Health Centre to have my second(Colin).Michael was great too, playing with my kids and keeping them company.
We will miss Ralph alot. Even just a wave, in passing or pulling out of the driveway continued to keep that connection.
Love and Sincere Sympathy to Nancy and Michael. xxoo

Dear Nancy and family,
So sorry to hear about the passing of Ralph! I'll always remember my visits at the town hall with my grade three classes. Ralph was always happy to see the students and he was very proud to talk about the history of Sussex. He would even bring the students to see the clock on the top floor of the town hall. The students were always so excited to meet the mayor of Sussex. Some years were even more special when some of his grandchildren were the visitors. He was so proud of them! Ralph was always so kind and loved by everyone. He loved his community and especially his family! Thinking of all of you during this difficult time!

I was deeply saddened to hear of Ralph's passing - I had the pleasure of serving on the Board of Directors of the Fundy Trail Development Authority with him for a over a decade, and greatly appreciated his passion for the project, the community of Sussex and the Region. He was an absolute gentleman who was grounded in civility. When Ralph spoke, the Board listened - his views and perspectives were shaped by his many years of public service and his natural instincts with respect to the general public and dealing with both the Provincial and Federal Governments. No doubt, we will all miss his kind smile and ability to add a bit of much needed humour and levity at just the right time. My thoughts and deepest sympathy are with his family, friends and the beautiful community of Sussex. Blessings from Saint John.

Without fail if we needed the Mayor's comment on local news items, ralph was there, along with being a big part of our CJCW Radio-thons we held over the years. Ralph was the mayor when I was covering Sussex council for the Kings County Record. He was always the most kind person, a gentleman, never negative to me, even when I had to report on things that did not paint the town in a positive light.
I set up a meeting once with him to do a year-end story. The appointment was just a few days before Christmas. I went to his office and he met me at the door. Then before we sat down, he said, "Oh, it's Christmas, come here!" and he have me a great big bear hug and wished me a Merry Christmas. That is my fondest memory of him!
RIP, Ralph. You have left your mark on our town in the most lovely of ways.
