Obituary of Lucy Branton
Lucy was born on June 13th, 1940 in Botwood, NFLD, the daughter of John and Delphina (Hoddnot). From her youth throughout her entire life, Lucy was friends with everyone she met as she always saw the good in people. She loved animals, especially cats. She loved to dance and was always known for having a great sense of humor.
In 1972, Lucy moved to Oromocto, where she worked for Optical Canada making eye glass frames. She would leave at the end of the day and clean homes in the evenings to make extra money. She then went on to work as a civilian employee of CFB Gagetown and while there, was acknowledged for her work by Prince Phillip and Princess Anne.
Eventually, in 2000, Lucy retired, which led her to move to Sussex where she took turns living with Wayne, Carlota and Judy. Eventually, she moved into Gateway Towers where she lived and made many friends before moving back in with Judy. She spent her time knitting, crocheting, watching Jerry Springer, drinking diet pepsi and smoking.
Of all that she loved in her life, she loved her family most and spending time with them. She will always be remembered as the kind and loving woman that she was.
Lucy will live on in the hearts of her daughters: Judy Dort and her husband Reg Barker of Knightville and Carlotta Patterson of Kingston, ON; her son, Wayne Branton and his wife Eva of Manuel Conception Bay, Newfoundland; her brother: Calvin Snow and his wife Hilda of Newfoundland; her twin sister Winnie Mirkovski and her husband Ivan of Toronto, ON, her sister Evelyn Snook and her husband Ned of Newfoundland, her sister in law: Laura Snow of Newfoundland, her grandchildren: Marsha Dort of Sussex, Ryan and Stephanie Branton both of Newfoundland and Tiffinie and Merissa Patterson both of Kingston, ON; her great granddaughter, Shaelyn Patterson of Kingston, ON; as well as several nieces and nephews.
