I will always miss my loving, sweet caring Uncle.
He was so good to us, growing up. He was very approachable with his quiet demeanor. He was always there to listen and tell us great stories of my father and his adventures. Visits were always joyful and happy.
He will be missed.
Sincerely,
Blair Steeves

We, the west coast cousins, are so very sorry to hear of John's passing. Our dad, Charlie, enjoyed many adventures with John when they were both in the Yukon. And Jeannie and I remain always thankful to John for taking us under his wing when we returned Dad's ashes to 'Squaw Creek'. John also arranged for us to see "Charlie's nugget" found in the creek just after Dad died - it was heavy and filled my hand. The only time in my life when I really understood what Gold Fever was all about.
Our sincere condolences - another wandering and imaginative traveller has left our midst.
Love,
Eileen (also Jeannie and Jim)

Donna, we were shocked and saddened to learn of John’s passing. He was a fearless and imaginative bridge player who happily caused us all kinds of trouble at the table. It was through John’s contacts that the club was able to obtain the wonderful caricature of Gerry that hangs in our home and we will think of him when we look at it. Our thoughts are with you.

Dear Donna and Family,
We have just now learned of John's passing and want to extend our sincere condolences. We have so many memories of John - going back to school days and forward through military college, Mt. A., careers, marriage and kids. Although our contacts have not been many over the past few years, he has not been far from our thoughts. We jokingly refer to him as "gotta go Steeves" because whenever we did see him dropping in at the cottage the first thing he would say is "I can't stay long, I gotta go . . . . "
He always had a story or opinion to express and we enjoyed his emails about world happenings over the years. He will be missed.

Donna and the Steeves family: Please know that Pat and Pat are thinking of you and that we are so sorry John has gone. John and I shared a common bond in broadcasting; John never failed to share a story or memory and always with a touch of humour and irony! When Patricia landed at your table Donna, she always asked John to be kind...and with a twinkle in his eye, he would always come back with: "when have I not been kind"? We will always remember the little "women against the men" challenges at St Davids on Friday night! We are all so fortunate to have had time to know John and he will be missed!

So sorry to hear of John"s passing. We were "neighbors" and I clearly remember when the Steeves family moved into the "sweep"
Many evenings were spent watching a black and white TV at my grandmothers as she was the first to have a TV which came on about 4 PM each day. John enthusiastically enjoyed many of those evenings. John's father was secretary of the Plumweseep School Board for a period of time, Drinking water for the students at the Plumweseep School was carried from the Steeve's home in a bucket. Many good memories,
My sincere condolences to John"s family.

Donna, family and Allan, so sorry to hear of John’s passing. I have known John since we went to Plumweseep school together. Such a smart lad! Then when he returned to Sussex to retire I heard many duplicate bridge stories from my brother Edward after many of their tournaments. Just so sad.
