Obituary of Wendy-Sue Lackie Lucas

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Wendy-Sue Lackie Lucas, who passed away on October 23, 2020 surrounded by the care and strength of her family. Born in Sussex on July 4, 1967; she was a daughter to Wendell and Judy (Burns) Lackie. Wendy-Sue was an absolute diamond in the rough. She gave of herself and her time freely to whoever needed her. She would give you the last 5$ in her pocket if she thought you needed it. She baked and delivered food to everyone she loved. She was an amazing cook, a skill inherited from her Mom. She had her children, Mitchell and Michelle, at a young age and grew up with them. They were her pride and joy. She loved spending time with them in Alberta, and she missed them and her grandchildren, Maddoch and Viola, every day. Wendy felt very blessed when she became gramma to 3 more little boys who lovingly called her "Nanu". Her life was full of love with her Husband Rick, whom she adored and appreciated. Wendy and Rick spent time in Gaspe, where Wendy met Ricks family and made wonderful memories. Her hobbies always included family and friends playing cards, four wheeling, washer toss, campfires, and laughs. She will be sadly missed by her husband Rick Lucas of Sussex Corner; her mother Judy Lackie of Sussex; her son Mitchell Lackie of Edmonton; her daughter Michelle McLean of Edmonton; her step-daughters: Jenelle Muise (Josh) of Sussex, Jillian Lucas of Albert County and Jessica Lucas of Sussex; her brother Charles Lackie (Desiree) of Arizona; her sisters: Leslie Hayes (David) of Moncton, Sheila Copp (Tom) of Connecticut, Margaret MacDonald (Gerry) of Roachville, Ina Demmons (Sheldon) of Quispamsis and Melissa Reicker (James) of Sussex; her grandchildren: Maddock McLean-Lackie, Viola McLean-Lackie, Jace Lucas, Ashur Lucas and Jarek Lucas as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family. Wendy was predeceased by her Father, Wendell Lackie. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex (506-433-1176). Visitation will be held at Wallace Funeral Home on Monday, October 26th from 2:00 to 4:00PM & 6:00 to 8:00pm. A funeral service celebrating the life of Wendy will be held on Wednesday, October 28th at 11:00AM with Jeanette Cosman officiating (INVITE ONLY). In keeping with guidelines of NB Public Health, please wear a mask and respect social distancing. If you would like to view Wendy's service, please copy this link into your browser: https://livestream.com/accounts/12493326/events/9374634 Interment will be held at the Pinegrove Cemetery in Corn Hill immediately following the funeral service. Wendy had very few requests during her long fight with Cancer, but one thing she felt very strongly about was children seeing her sick. She requested that no one under the age of 12 attend the viewing, funeral or burial. We ask that you please respect her wishes. For those who wish to make a memorial donation, the family would appreciate consideration of the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
