Obituary of Albert Young

Mr. Albert Leander Young was born in Kings Island, NFLD on June 2, 1941, he was the son of the late David and Eileen (Shiner) Young. When Albert was in school, his two best friends got him to hide under the teacher's desk when the teacher read role - call and said "Albert", he responded by ripping off her pantyhose and then the class went in an uproar. In his younger years, Albert was a rascal and got in lots of trouble. In his teenage years this is what he sang: " I can sing, and I can dance and I can play the cardeen too, (Then he would yodel so his nickname was the Missippi Yodeler) Woke up the neighbor, said by God I'd play the cardeen, if I was next to you and put my boot in ya ass". In 1996 Albert lived with his brother Gerald, Trudy and his family in Antigonish, NS; he enjoyed Trudy's homemade bread and visits from his family. He had a special bond with Trish, Uncle Alb's girl or Sis was her nickname. Albert is survived by his wife, Cathy Young; two daughters: Sylvia Norrad and David MacFarlane of Kingston and Berdena Green and her husband Earl of Saint John; Two sons: Douglas of Manitoba and Larry and his wife Michelle of Saskatchewan; the mother of his children, Melitta Rooney; six brothers: Clayton, David and his wife Ethel, Jim, Ronald and his wife Florence, all of Newfoundland, Gerald and his wife Trudy and Geddis and his wife Ivy all of PEI; four sisters: Ellen Shiner and her husband Rodman, Nina Janes and her husband Raymond, Mabel Young and Bessie Welshmen and her husband Malcolm all of Newfoundland; ten grandchildren: Sara, Matilda, Brittany, (Poppy's special boys) Brandon and Ryan, Shania, Aiden, Emma, Justin and Dylan; three great grandchildren: Damion, Torrien and Dakota; his good friend, Richard Munro of Sussex; as well as several nieces and nephews. Albert is predeceased by his sister, Lydia; two infant brothers: George and Steward and by his sister-in-law, Laura Young. Mr. Albert Leander Young of Sussex passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on June 20, 2010 at the age of 69.
