Obituary of Cecil Walker

Cecil Walker was born in Sussex on August 10, 1926; he was the son of the late Alexander and Elizabeth Jane (Black) Walker. Cecil's mother grew up in Lisson Settlement, and his father was from Hammondvale. Cecil has two younger brothers: Willis and James, also lifelong residents of Sussex. Cecil married Edna Marie Arsenault on May 13th, 1950. This year they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage. They have two daughters: Shirley Edna Walker (formerly of Norton and now resides with her mother at the Kiwanis Nursing Home) and Barbara Ann Walker of Saint John. Cecil was very proud of his four wonderful grandchildren: Sharlene McKillop, Patrick Montague, Timothy Montague and Paul Montague Jr. Cecil had many hobbies. He was an avid hunter, gardener and fisherman. He also enjoyed boating, carpentry, and antique cars. He was an inventor and tinkered with many small projects. Being "mechanically-inclined" he was known for taking things apart to see how they worked. He collected several tools, many of which were from Princess Auto and CTC Saturday door crashers. He had a great passion for music, especially the "fiddle" type. He collected many recordings of various artists, including Don Messer, Ned Landry, Ivan Hicks and Winston Crawford. Cecil also has had a few pets over the years, from Fluffy the cat, to Snoopy the dog. Bella is a very special small dog that Cecil is co-owner of with his daughter. Cecil has always been a very kind, sincere, caring husband, father and grandfather. He has a heart of gold, always there to offer a helping hand. Cecil was very popular especially during the winter months with his snow blower rescuing neighbors in a storm. Cecil's family and friends have always been very important to him. Cecil has been reacquainted with many of his former friends since he took up residency at the Kiwanis Nursing Home in the fall of 2008. Mr. Cecil Warren Walker of Kiwanis Nursing Home Sussex passed away at the Kiwanis Nursing Home on May 6, 2010 at the age of 83. He was predeceased by his two infant sons in 1955 and 1966.
