Greta was born in Sussex on November 21, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Percy Raymond McEwen and Ethel Regina (Kelso) and the wife of the late Ronald Irvine Coates who passed away December 22, 1994. Greta enjoyed sewing and made her own clothes. She loved skating, dancing and was a beautiful photographer. She graduated in grade 11 from Sussex High School in 1942. She immediately began working in the jewelry business, beginning with Vincent's Jewelry which later became Harmony Jewelry where she retired in 1997. Greta was a member of Trinity Anglican Church where she was involved with the ACW, the Chancel Guild and the Choir. She was also a former member of the Brunswick Belle's. Greta is survived by her sister, Celia Brown of Ottawa, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother "Bud" Raymond McEwen and by two sisters, Doris Waddington and Madeline McEwen. Mrs. Greta Melissa Coates of 157 Church Ave and formerly of Main Street Sussex passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on April 26, 2010 at the age of 85.
