Obituary of Donald Evans Goddard
Don was born in Berwick on July 9, 1923 and was the son of the late Norman and Frances (Orr) Goddard.
Don enlisted in the Canadian Army in April 1942 as a Private and proudly served his country during WWII until his discharge date in May 1947.
Don was a retired foreman for Maritime Gardeners, but after retiring, he did not slow down. He enjoyed making and refinishing furniture.
Don was a member and elder of Wesley United Church, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Norton, Branch #76 as well as a member of the Berwick Seniors.
Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Edna (Daigle); his daughter Donna Stevens and her husband Donald of Carsonville; two brothers, Russell Goddard and his wife Marjorie of Berwick, Harvey Goddard and his wife Pauline of Sussex; two sisters, Carrie Gowlett and her husband Ernie of Sussex and Mabel Dalling of Waterford; three grandchildren; Kelly Casey and her husband Gerald of Fall River NS, Terri DeGooyer and her husband Ron of Lower Millstream and Jayme Stevens (Shannon) of Dutch Settlement; eight great grandchildren; Joey and Katelyn Casey, Ryan, Brett, Evan and Shawn DeGooyer, Kristopher and Jaxson Stevens; two sisters-in-law Betty Goddard of Fredericton and Myrtle Goddard of Waterford as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Donald Evans Goddard of Berwick passed away at the Sussex Health Center on June 3, 2012 at the age of 88. He was predeceased by nine brothers Perley, Clifford, Robert, Everett, Eric, Wesley, Herbert, Clarence, and Palmer and by three sisters, Vivian Matchett, Marion Gillett and Florence Campbell.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 5th from 2-4 and 7-9pm.
The Royal Canadian Legion Norton Branch #76 will hold a tribute Tuesday evening at 6:45pm.
A celebration of Don's life will be held from Wesley United Church on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 2:00pm. The interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorial Donations made to the Wesley United Church, The Canadian Cancer Society or the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
