Obituary of Imre Ivan

"Jim" Imre Laszlo Ivan was born in Tompa, Hungary on June 28, 1938; he was the son of the late Joseph and Margarit (Szucs) Ivan. Jim joined the French Foreign Legion in 1956 at the age of 17, serving with the 4 regiment Etrenger D'Infanterie and was honorably discharged August 19, 1963. He was stationed in France, Germany, Africa, Belgium and Algeria. He spoke many languages including: Hungarian, French, German, Spanish, English and Yugoslavian; Jim came to Canada on June 12, 1967; he received his Electric Code Certificate from the Saint John Institute of Technology, April 19th, 1968. He graduated with his Electrical Construction Trade on July 2nd 1968 and received his Canadian Citizenship October 28th, 1969. Jim owned and operated Ivan Electric for many years, working with Irving Enterprise and Colson Cove. After his retirement in the early 1980's he became a Security Guard for Mill Cove Nursing Home. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time on his computer. Jim is survived by Mildred (Brown) his wife of 33years, his daughter, Jennifer Chapados of Saint John; five sons: Jimmy and Sherri, Stephen, and Gerry all of Alberta, Gilbert of Saint John, and Terry of BC; his brother, Joseph Ivan; his sister, Elizabeth both of Hungary; seven grandchildren: Ashley, Samantha, Shawn, Jessica, Kayla, Kyle and Jacob; Jim was predeceased by his sister, Gazilla. Mr. "Jim" Imre Laszlo Ivan of Youngs Cove passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on April 24, 2010 at the age of 71.
