Obituary of Calvin Duffy
Calvin was born in Youngs Cove on July 27th, 1943 to John Duffy of Scotland and Margaret (Snodgrass) of Youngs Cove.
He was one of three children: his brother Ashley and his wife "Peg" Margaret of Uxbridge, ON and his sister Connie Ebbett of Fredericton.
Calvin was always very good natured and would give anyone the shirt off his back, always giving and never expecting anything in return. He was the taxi for the neighborhood kids, taking them to hockey games, taking them to eat and then making sure they arrived home safely. He loved nature and animals, especially dogs. When he was a boy he even had a pet chicken named Cluck. Calvin worked hard all of his life and although he was employed with DOT for over 33 years, he also owned and operated his own businesses, including the Lincoln Product Bar and the Silverwood Irving Convenience. Calvin enjoyed documentaries and biographies and spent a great deal of his time reading.
On September 5th, 1970 he married his beloved wife Marie (Moss) and they would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this year. He has two sons: Andrew and his
wife Roberta of Fredericton and Jamie and Joni Chilvers of Youngs Cove; five grandchildren; Amanda, Abigail, Riley, Nate and Taylor. Family was very important to Calvin; he loved Marie, his boys and especially his grandchildren and will always be remembered for his kind heart. Calvin is predeceased by his parents John and Margaret Duffy and his brother-in-laws John Ebbett and Tom Moss.
Mr. Calvin John Duffy of Youngs Cove passed away at the Oromocto Public Hospital on April 16, 2010 at the age of 66.
