Obituary of David Moss

David Ronald Moss was born in Sussex on July 31, 1955 to Ronald Edward and Thelma Roberta (Clark) Moss. Dave grew up in Sussex where he loved to play ball hockey in the streets with his brothers and sticking his two sisters in the Net so the boys could target practice. The Moss boys were known for their silly antics and boxing skills which brought a lot of people to their house on Saturday night to watch. Dave loved his family and was very proud of them. Dave never had a jealous bone in his body and was always happy when others succeeded in life. A true class act all the way. On December 10, 1983 Dave married the love of his life, Elaine. This was a match made in heaven. The bond they had was unbreakable and the love and joy they shared was an inspiration to others. Elaine always had the key to Dave's heart but Dave made sure Elaine had the key to his heart to wear around her neck. Dave was a gentle soul who never stopped smiling and made everyone around him feel special. He loved to play guitar and sing and enjoyed a good get together for a sing song and lots of laughs. Dave loved hockey and was a true Toronto Maple Leaf fan and to him there was no other hockey team. He fulfilled his life long dream to go to Toronto and see his beloved Leafs in October of 2009. Sitting in the Alumni box a happier man could not be found. They treated him like the number one fan he was and presented him with a signed Wendal Clark Jersey which he was thrilled about. He toured the Hockey Hall of Fame and many sites around Toronto including the CN Tower even though he was scared of heights. Dave worked at Nelson Monuments for over 31 years and was loved by all. The special friendships he formed while workingthere held a very special place in his heart. He also did a lot of painting and dry walling in various homes as a hobby and was always in demand. He was a hard worker and a devoted husband, son, brother and uncle and loved by all who had the pleasure of meeting him. He touched so many lives. To laugh often and much, win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children. To appreciate beauty and to find the best in others and leave this world a better place, knowing even one life has breathed easier because you have lived is to have succeeded. Dave was certainly the perfect example of that. Dave fought a battle with cancer and has now gone home to be with his heavenly Father. He passed away surrounded by his loving family at the Sussex Health Center on March 22, 2010. David is survived by his beloved wife, Elaine, his parents Ronald and Thelma Moss; Three brothers: Paul, Stephen and his wife Heather, Andrew and his wife Shelly, two sisters, Suzanne Noddin and her husband Paul and Theresa Marriott and her husband Dave; as well as several Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. His in-laws Joe & Margaret Taylor and their Families. He was predeceased by his two nieces: Ashton and Kyla Moss; his grandparents; three aunts and his sister-in-law, Eleanor Taylor Hawkes. The Pallbearers are: Dave's brothers: Andrew, Stephen and Paul, Jeff Snider, Billy Howe and Tony Bell. The Honorary Pallbearers are: Darren Long and Dave Scott. This is a sad day and we share in everyone's grief. It was our pleasure to meet you all and to hear of so many of Dave's great qualities. It was our pleasure to be able to bring a little joy into his heart. God's blessings to all of you and his family on behalf of our Leaf Alumni Association.
