Obituary of Gene Reid
Gene was born on November 5, 1968. He loved to watch television with his father before his father passed away in 1995. Gene particularly enjoyed the Lawrence Welk Show, Price Is Right, the news, and the wrestling matches. He loved country music, especially Elvis Presley. He had all of Elvis’ CDs and DVDs and watched them constantly. I think Gene is watching TV right now in heaven with his father by his side.
Our mother would take Gene to the Gateway mall and he would wander around looking at the movies until he had seen enough, he would then just go sit in the car and wait. Once I remember mom coming back from the mall and Gene was not with her. When he was not in the car, she though he must have gone home. Mom had all of us out looking for him. However, while we were out looking for Gene, he just walked into our home as if nothing had happened at all...It was like he was saying that he could take care of himself.
Gene was always there for mom making sure she was alright...if she needed help in the kitchen he would help . . . if she got down to fix something on the floor he would get next to her and help her up.
Gene always worried and looked out for his twin brother Ober. When Gene knew Ober was coming for supper, he would make sure a can of pepsi was placed on the table for him, for he knew that Ober liked pepsi. He would also hide chocolate bars in his room to give to Ober.
He always called our brother Jim (BOO) because he couldn't pronounce Jim.
He went to Keirstead Memorial School and Sussex Regional High School and graduated from in 1989. Gene loved to read mechanic books and magazines about cars, he kept a favorite model of a yellow corvette in his room.
He was very friendly and was well liked and loved by everyone. He had lots of friends at Crosswinds...I'm sure he will be very missed by them. He also loved animals, especially cats.
The whole family will surely miss this special brother - but it’s not goodbye, it’s till we see you again...
