Obituary of Norma Lee Ricker
Norma Lee was born in Amherst on February 1, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Bruce Logan Mary (MacDonald) and was the wife of Rev. Hazen Ricker.
After graduating from High School, Norma Lee continued her education at Bethany Bible College in music and Christian Education. She also found time to take courses in tailoring and art. Norma Lee met Hazen Ricker while attending Bethany Bible College. After the two were married they became a ministry team and would go on to serve in many places. She and Hazen were in team ministry for over 52 years. They served faithfully with the Atlantic District, in several Wesleyan Churches, and at First Grand Lake Baptist Church of Cumberland Point
Norma played the organ and piano for the churches they served in. She was a kindergarten teacher, a piano teacher, a choir director, a tailor, a former employee of Blacks Fashions, an occasional employee of Bruce Northrup, Kings East and a member of the team of Wallace Funeral Home.
Norma Lee had an unfailing faith, she loved people and her many ministries. Norma was inspired by her own dear husband, she loved to read, sew, and express her feelings through music and was a helped many in the area of counselling.
Norma Lee will continue to live on in the hearts of her husband Rev. Hazen Ricker; her three children: Graydon Ricker and his wife Norma of Sussex; Gregory Ricker and his wife Shelly of Fredericton and Darlene Perreault and her husband Bob of Sussex; her six grandchildren: Gregory Ricker of Jasper, Alberta, Michelle Ricker of Sussex, Shawn Ricker of Quispamsis, Alex Nickerson of Sussex, Evan Ricker of Fredericton and Ashlee Nickerson of Sussex and one great grandson, Creston Ricker of Jasper Alberta; her sister, Sharon Fry of PEI; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews and her beloved companion Molly.
Mrs. Norma Lee Ricker of Sussex, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on October 11, 2009 at the age of 70.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 13 from 2-4 and 7-9pm.
A service celebrating Norma Lee’s life will be held from Sussex Wesleyan Church on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at 2:00 pm.
