Mrs. Grace Melissa Mercer of Primrose Cottage and formerly of Magnolia Ave. Sussex passed away at her residence on Monday, July 20, 2009 at the age of 89. Born in Ratter Corner on February 13, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Catherine E (Durham) Monahan and was the wife of the late Kenneth Leroy Mercer who passed away May 31, 1996. Grace was from Ratter Corner and spent most of her life in Apohaqui. She raised her family there and had many friends. She was always available to give someone a helping hand. She could do whatever had to be done: sewing, knitting, cooking and one year when Ken was away working, she bundled up the girls and went to cut down a Christmas tree and brought it home.
