Why do the good pass into the heavenlies, so young, such character,he was my fortress after I lost my partner, meek and mild, Bible scripture said "The meek will inherit the earth", I will one day meet him again ND I know in heaven he will get a crown of not only glory but will have favor shown beyond our wildest dreams, a true great prince has fallen.
The sorrow too is really a loss to his family his partner Noone will ever be able to minister to them and me to fully alleviate the empty space. Today he shines in that heavenly bliss of his true haven of rest in his Lord and Saviour. He quietly arrived on the threshold of heaven and all the saints rejoiced . Knowing what we ve been taught about the celestial land ,Doug will never want to come back, I can still see his wonderful SMILE and greatness of kindness shown to me with a great gesture of hugging me through a horrific loss .
God bless you all my friends .

I am so very sorry to hear that Doug has passed. I met Doug while he was working at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre a few years ago. He always made time to check in on our unit to see if he could provide any assistance to the patients or staff. He had incredible insight and was always a wonderful person to talk to. When he left our hospital, his absence was felt. He made a difference in peoples lives and I will remember his warm smile and contagious laugh. My condolences to Doug's husband, mother and family. Doug is a wonderful soul and is loved and appreciated by many.

I am so sorry to learn of Doug's passing. I worked with Doug in Amherst and we did our MSW together at MUN at the same time. Doug was well loved by all those that he met. He was so positive and personable. I have fond memories of Doug having the office next to me, spending time with Doug at MUN, talking about our next assignment, and time spent visiting at Doug's home when he lived here. He will be sadly missed.
Deepest condolences to Doug's husband, family and friends,

We wish to extend our sincere sympathies to Wanda, Ann, Mary.
Doug was such a sweet, loveable man and he will be dearly missed. His smile could light up any room. Mom (Aunt Margaret Ann) could always count on him for his kind words, he was always SO complimentary. His compliments would embarrass her but she will now miss hearing them.
As Doug Jr, he had been called many different names as a child as not to confuse him with Doug Sr. Grammie Kelly would call him “Wee Doug”. Also know as “Young Doug”, “Little Doug”, or “Dougie”.
Sadly family gatherings are few and far between these days so we don’t get together as often as we once did. My husband, Kevin and I were fortunate enough to spend an evening with Doug a few years ago when we were visiting in Alma. Lots of laughs and good conversation.
Rest easy, Doug. Love,
Margaret Ann, Susan, Paul & Family

I've know Doug for roughly 8 years or so but we became really close when he joined the Child & Youth Team about 3 years ago. We liked to joke that Doug was my "work husband". Every morning Doug would meet me at my office door when I arrived to work. Doug quickly became like family to me. He met my parents, my husband, my children and even our dog (who used to come for visits with us to see Doug at his home). I'm beyond thankful that Doug met the man of his dreams right before he got ill. This was no coincidence. Paul was meant to walk into Doug's life when he did. Thank you Paul for everything that you've done for Doug over the past 2 years. My work husband can never be replaced. I sure will miss him.
This is how I will remember my friend...he always made me laugh.

Oh Wanda, Ann, Mary, and families, absolutely gutted to learn of Doug’s passing. He was such a bright light, great sense of humour, and we all have such good memories of being together with him through all those hours upon hours, that we spent at the rink. I can still hear his laugh. And, no surprise that he became a social worker where he extended his kind heart and just plain good soul to others, in need. I am so sorry. Sorry beyond words. Life simply isn’t fair sometimes and the world having to say goodbye to Doug Kelly, is but a prime example. I am so sorry. Anne

Dear Mrs. Kelly, Ann, and Mary,
I was shocked and so saddened to read of Doug's recent passing. Although I have not seen Doug in many years I have so many fond memories of him and the time we spent together at the rink, at your house, and at mine. Before I actually got to know him I was so very shy around him. I think I viewed him as a skating star and was a little bit in awe of him. As I got to know him, I realized he was a great guy who was loved to have fun and had a laugh that could be heard throughout a room.
Skating presented me with the opportunity to meet and get to know Doug, as well as provide me with memories I will always cherish. I can remember travelling to Saint John and Charlottetown, with all of you, for competitions. We had so much fun together laughing at the smallest things and even snickering a little, most likely at things we shouldn't have been snickering about. It was such a wonderful time in my life, in part, because of the fun I had with Doug.
I am happy to know Doug found a place in life where he made a difference and was happy. I can only begin to imagine the number of lives he must have touched, especially in his chosen line of work. I am sure he will be missed.
My deepest and most sincere sympathy to all of you. I hope your precious memories of time spent together will bring you some comfort and peace in the time to come. Keeping you all in my thoughts and sending love and strength at this very sad time.

Sorry to learn of Dougs passing.
Met him while he was in St. John’s NL studying and he was at placement as a social worker with my team.
He made me laugh with his causal mannerisms and I’ll never forget how he had snack bread in his Satchel.
He really enjoyed a jiggs dinner my mom sent over. Sorry for his passing and my condolences.

I am so sorry to see this. I knew and worked with Doug at Community Services in Amherst. His kindness and compassion was evident in his work as well as his friendships. I always enjoyed our interactions, whether taking part in dragon boat races, or fund raising fashion shows, he was always up for anything. He and I had many discussions about life, and no matter how serious they were, they almost always ended with us both laughing. Doug had a great laugh. He truly was such a great human being and I feel privileged to have known him. My deepest sympathy goes out to his husband, mother and sisters. Your loss is immeasurable.

I am so sorry to hear of Doug’s passing. It makes my heart heavy. He and I had discussed the troubled youth we both worked with. Kindred spirits of sorts. Derek, Mum and I enjoyed rekindling our contact with Doug during visits to Alma. Especially at the Alma Fleet Launch in October 2017. We were up for the 4am festivities, watched the fireworks, cheered the boats out of the harbour, then watched the sun rise at the end of the wharf, followed by breakfast together at the Harbourview restaurant. We laughed and smiled until our cheeks were sore. It was a marvellous time together as a family of extended cousins, Manning-Armstrong. We will keep Doug’s infectious laugh in our hearts and celebrate his life. I can only hope holding his memory near will help you through your days ahead. I wish we could be there to give you hugs but please know we are thinking of you.
With much love, BonnieLee, Derek and Frances.

It was wonderful to reconnect with Doug on that cold Fundy morning. We spent many evenings after catching up on our lives and often shopping at the Hospice shop. He bought me a box of antique Christmas ornaments. They always have an honoured spot on the tree and will more so now. I will miss him. Derek

To my dearest and beloved family,
Douglas was the BEST BIG BROTHER ever!!! I will miss him deeply and in my heart I know daddy and he are together now. Along with Mr. Cat. There are a few songs I’d like to share that have helped me through these past years and months. The first few are my healing songs. The others are ones that my brother LOVED and skated to.
Bruce Springsteen- Land of Hopes and Dreams
Elms District-Journey On
Bon Jovi - Here Comes the Sun
Bob Diylan - Knocking on Heavens Door
Michael Franti and the Spearheads - I’m Alive
Doobie Brothers- Listen to the Music
Looking Glass- Brandy
Wings- Live and Let Die
Elvis - Jailhouse Rock
Chicago- Colour my World
Music had always been a part of our lives growing up thanks to skating and piano lessons. My brother loved Classical, 70’s Opera and more, you name it.
I will miss you Big Brother. I’m so thankful that you’re at peace now. You Out weighed the odds from the start, from this horrible stage 4 brain cancer. You’re a Kelly! Never give up always positive and generous with your time. You were the most sincere person I’ve ever known with the exception of Ma and daddy! I’ll love you forever and for always!! Hugs and kisses your Baby Sister Mary xoxo
