Dear Joan, Grant, Nadine, Sabrina and families,
It was very sad to hear of Earl's passing so sudden as I did not even know that he had not been well. There are so many memories from living in New Canaan and babysitting the kiddos and then working on the new roads together with me as a flaggirl and Earl with his dump truck. He always stopped to see if I was okay or needed something, while of course I was always trying to get him to stop smoking, he would just grin and put up with me anyway. He was a kind and sincere cousin, that loved to gab and in 2015 when my girls and I got to visit your beautiful home in Sussex, he was very proud and rightly so of the beautiful and various woods used in its design and decor. I believe you were in the States with your girls at that time Joan, having a girls get away. Eloise will dearly miss talking with her only brother each night and undoubtedly struggling too being so far away from you all.
Thinking about each of you at this sad time in your lives, it's difficult to say goodbye to a loved one. Take time to grieve in your own ways!

We were so sad to hear about Earl, growing up next door he’s a man I have known for quite a few years. Always ready to have a chat with. When mom couldn’t find Dad we knew he was likely across the street taking to Earl. Then marrying Mark they worked together and always felt like he took him under his wing and always was there for anything he needed when he was around. Pretty sad times when we loose our parents and partners as we definitely do not have them for far long enough. You all will carry him with you in your hearts and memories and hope they bring you comfort in the days ahead. Your in our thoughts and prayers and will be thinking of you all!

Sincere sympathy, to the Corey family, on Earle’s passing. I had some great discussions with Earle, over the years, while we both worked at Kingsco. Years later, when I would run into him, after not seeing him for sometime, it was always good to get caught up. He was always pleasant and interested in what I was up to. He was kind and sincere. I am so glad I got to spend some time with him during his recent hospital stay. He was one of the good ones. He will be missed!

I was very sad to read of Earl’s passing but am grateful for him and for all of you that his suffering has ended. I have so many fond memories of him as a child. You guys too might remember us playing in the barn or at the lake while our Mom’s talked about recipes or actually baked together, especially at Christmas time; while our fathers chatted and smoked cigarettes a lot together too. They were really good at the chatting part. I remember them building your first little cottage and cutting down trees to make a path down to the lake. I also remember us catching fireflies down there and collecting acorns. One of the best memories of your Dad is of the day he took Wesla and I to PEI in his big truck. Man were we cool way up in that truck cab when we drove onto that Ferry.
I respected your Dad a lot for his wisdom and memory as he grew older and yes I grew older too. Sometimes we had the chance to chat upon running into each other usually at a funeral visitation or some function at the Canaan Church. He was always full of info about you all and especially of his grandkids.
I’m sorry I can’t attend Earl’s funeral service but I promise Joan, to bring Mom down on a Saturday sometime soon so you two can reminisce. Reminiscing is the best way to find peace. Remembering the good times of the past helps block out the not so goods times of the presence. You were very fortunate to have a good man in your lives as a husband, Dad, grandfather and leader of your pack. I was too and I’m glad they were friends. I didn't know Blois (Earl) but I'm betting my family, the Sketchleys, did. My mom, Edie Sketchley (McArthur) was the same age and grew up on the Keith Road in Butternut Ridge. I also wanted to mention that my grandfather, Joe Sketchley, worked for Blois Corey (sr) as a bookkeeper and administrator after the Second World War, and much of my life, I heard only good things about Blois Corey and his family.
There is also a family connection. My great aunt Amy MacArthur, I believe, was related to Blois Sr.
