So sorry to hear of your Mom’s sudden passing but thankful she was able to continue doing what she loved doing right up until closing time. Your Dad and her raised a great family that took after them by being hard working friendly people. Always liked visiting the store as a young girl with my parents Walton and Marie Keith. Our Dad’s would talk hunting while our Mom’s chatted about their families. Thinking of you all at this time. Glenda LeBlanc

To Lillian's family. I always admired Lillian for her graciousness, so gentle. She reminded me so much of her mother Olive, who I had as a teacher in grades 5 and 6. She always asked how my children and grandchildren were doing. Almost 85 and showing us her amazing work ethics. We all know how much she enjoyed being such a great part of the community and watching the different generations pass through her store. My sincere condolences to you all. Davine McLean

To the Vail Family,
I am so sorry for the sudden passing of your dear mom, grandmother, great grandmother. She truly was the matriarch of your family and will be deeply missed. Her impact on her families lives and in the community has been far reaching and will continue to be. I will always remember her genuine interest in my children when we would stop by the store. The boys especially would have been there many times when they were on their way to a hunting or fishing excursion with the Vail brothers.
The love and honour her children had for their mom was so evident and has and will continue to impact those who witnessed it, especially the younger generations. What a beautiful legacy. May your cherished memories be a comfort now and in the days to come. Your family are treasured friends to us. You have been and will continue to be in our prayers.
Much love,
Marilee, Carissa, Josiah and Shiloh

Although we have never met Lillian, we have been privileged, humbled and blessed to know Ron, a stand up man with integrity and honesty. We have also met a couple of his brothers. Having said that, it is apparent that Lillian was (and still is) an icon and a pillar in the family having raised these people and have heard many times she made a great pie! We send love and strength in your healing to the Vail family. She will live on in all of you…
Much Love,

To the Vail family,
When a person makes an impact on their community then it is difficult to feel the loss of that individual. Lillian Vail was that person, always remembering people who crossed her path. We hadn't been in her store for a long time but Clifton delivered to the store when he worked for Cameron's Transfer many years ago, she always remembered him from those days and always wanted an update. May she rest in peace, her family and community family will miss her dearly.

My deepest sympathy to the Vail family on the passing of Lillian .I first met Harold and Lillian 28 years ago when I started working for TRA Atlantic selling food items to their store. Both were very kind and supportive to me. As the years passed I got to know the whole Vail family. Our friendship grew. What a great family !! In the later years Lillian ran the store along with Ruth and family. I am sure Harold would have been proud of the job that they did. Lillian knew most everyone that came in thru her door. She was a kind , hard working Christian. I will miss her smiling face. Time to rest now Lillian. God Bless Scott MacKnight

My sincere condolences to the Vail family. I do not remember a time in my life when a quick visit to Vail's store did not last a little longer than expected. Lillian always asked about family, seemed to remember everybody's name, usually shared a bit of news and could find mostly anything you might need. In fact, it became my habit, that before I drove to Sussex, I would try Vail's. Sometimes while I was talking to Lillian, I would remember something else I needed to buy. Maybe that was her plan all along. Lillian was a great lady, she will be missed.

Rosemary and I were returning home from a camping trip when we learned of my sister-in-law Lillian's passing. Living in New York state and due to covid travel restrictions were not able to attend services. Although we lived far apart we always talked around Christmas time and Lillian would fill me in on all the family's whereabouts and this would take up to an hour as she never left out anyone out and was always a beautiful visit by phone.
will miss you Lillian and god bless.
