Dear Balcom family,
We were very saddened to hear of Bob’s passing. Our condolences to all of your loving family. Bob was one of the friendliest and up beat people you would ever meet. He would always honk and wave as he drove past mom’s house on Stewart Avenue. Memories are a wonderful gift and you will cherish every one of them!

Marlene and Family. I want to pass on my sincere condolences with the passing of Bob. Bob mentored me when I began my career with Shur-Gain. He would take me from farm to farm to introduce me as their next sales rep. Bob always said kind words, but I could see in the eyes of his customers, that he would be missed. Bob made more friends and knew more people than we would ever think is possible. Bob was very knowledgeable, trustworthy, reliable and witty. Could he ever tell a joke. Laughter and his smile was such a great asset. If you were ever feeling like the day wasn't going the right way - just call Bob and he could bring you up to feeling like a different person in such a positive way. I admired his way and while working, I often reflect, thinking, "How would Bob handle this situation". Thinking of you and your lovely family through prayers during this most difficult time. May you always reflect on the best of times and keep those memories close to your heart. May God Bless each of you.

Deepest sympathy, love and prayers from Apohaqui! As a young hockey player in Sussex Bob put me in the penalty box way too many times, wouldn't listen to my arguments and simply smiled and pointed to the door of the "sin bin". His calm demeanor and slight grin infuriated me as a 15 year old Sussex Ranger. He enjoyed it! As an adult, returning home after many years, Bob and I would stand at the end of the 8th Hussars and chat as we watched game after game. I loved his commentary and the opportunity to listen. I treasure those conversations! He was "Mr Sussex" to me! Loved the community. Invested in it in so many ways. And loved the kids of the town far after his own were no longer active in sports. We all should be Bob. He modeled what we would do well to strive for! He will be missed! Love to the whole family!

Marlene and family,
Very surprised and saddened to hear about Bob’s passing. It was clear to everyone who knew him how much he loved his family. He was a great community man who loved supporting Sussex athletes in the rink or gym, whether they were his own children or not. He had a great impact on many, who enjoyed sharing one of his hearty laughs. He will be missed.

Sad to hear the news that Bob has passed.
One time, me, Kenny and Greg were tobogganing on the pasture behind the Balcolm house. It was a bit icy, this didn't deter Bob from a bit of mischief. When the three of us were on the toboggan, Bob got to pushing us at full speed and sent us flying. We wiped out at full tilt, lying on the ice all three of us moaning in pain, I can still hear Bob roaring with laughter from the top of the hill.
Best wishes to the Balcolm family,
Troy McGarrigle

Hey Bob! I know you’re reading all the comments and smiling. I know you don’t know me, I’m brooke’s friend. She sent me your biography and I literally got goosebumps after reading it. I never met you but can say that you were such a positive and happy soul.
May you Rest In Peace❤️

Marlene and family, sad to hear of Bob’s passing. He was always a fixture around town and always had a story to tell. When I think of Bob, sports automatically comes to mind, baseball, hockey, refereeing. To say he will be missed is an understatement.
Our thoughts are with you all.
