Obituary of Helen Marguerite Gallant
It is with sadness that the family of Helen Marguerite Gallant, age 89, wife of the late Urban Gallant, announces her death which occurred on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the Sussex Health Centre. She was born on March 21, 1932, in Poodiac, NB, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Bernice (McDonald) Brown.
Helen was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church and the Liberal Ladies Group. She also volunteered her time at the Kiwanis Nursing Home, as well as at the Church functions. Helen was a strong independent person who took pride in her home and anything she set her mind to. She enjoyed family gatherings in Craft’s Cove and Belleisle Bay, poking campfires, sitting on the beach, and watching the boats go by. Her family will miss her delicious stews, pickled beets, rhubarb crisp, home-made cookies and sweet bread loaves.
She is survived by her daughters: Sharon Gallant (Mel) of Wickham, NB, Linda Gallant (Greg) of Saint John, NB, Denise (Mickey) Korac of Newmarket, ON; sons: Stephen Gallant (Mary) of Mississauga, ON, Paul (Christine) Gallant of Sussex, NB; nine grandchildren: Kim, Michelle, Lisa, Natasha, Jeremy, Katelyn, Kristin, Emma, Andrew; five great-grandchildren: Justin, Jessica, Bryson, Olivia, Lexie; brother Maurice (Theresa) Brown of Saint John, NB; sisters: Doris McGinnis of Southfield, Florence (Lorne) Enright of Saint John, NB; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Urban and her parents, Helen is also predeceased by her sisters: Audrey Sands, Phyllis Gallant, Theresa Brown; her brothers: Eldon Brown, Edward Brown and great-granddaughter Claire.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), from where visitation will be held on Thursday, July 29 from 4 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial be held from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 11:00am. Interment will be held at Wards Creek Cemetery.
