Obituary of Betty Audrey Agnes Lockhart
Mrs. Betty Audrey Agnes Lockhart was born in Thornton Heath, England; She was the daughter of the late Augustus Frederick and Ada Mary (Haines) Noakes and wife of the late Harold Lockhart who passed away in 1987.
Betty met Harold in Croydon, England in 1941 and they were wed on October 1st, 1942. Together they would create a beautiful love story to carry on through their large family. In 1945 they were baptized by Rev. Linton and would later make Sussex United Baptist Church located on Church Ave., Sussex, NB their church.
Betty was a survivor of the London blitz and arrived in Canada on the RMS Aquitania in February 1945. Betty was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Sussex Branch #20 Ladies Auxiliary, and the New Brunswick War Brides Association.
She had a deep faith, a deeper love for her family and greatly enjoyed time spent walking in her garden.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Betty will live on in the hearts of her daughters: Maureen (Brian) Walsh of Toronto, ON, Barbara (Dennis) Gourley of London, ON, Audrey Dunlap of Ottawa, ON, Betty Gruffydd of Fredericton, NB, Kerri (Mario) Beretta of Switzerland, Colleen (Aurel) Lockhart of Fredericton, NB and Kimberly Lockhart of Fredericton, NB; her sons: Douglas (Marie) of Fredericton, NB and Robert (Ruth) of Winnipeg, MB; as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Betty Audrey Agnes Lockhart of Fredericton, passed away on September 8, 2021 at the age of 96.
Betty was predeceased by her daughters: Karen Louise and Jennifer Lockhart; her son, Frederick; her brothers: Jack Noakes and Ronald Noakes and her sisters: Eileen Clarke, Jane Noakes, Maureen Gridley and Peggy Stevenson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). A service celebrating Betty’s life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at 2:30pm. Interment will be held in Kirk Hill Cemetery at a later date.
