Obituary of Harry Rodger MacKinley
Harry Rodger MacKinley August 31,1954 - September 25, 2021
It is with Great sadness we announce the quiet passing of our dear Harry at the Kiwanis Nursing Home in Sussex New Brunswick, on Saturday, September 25th, 2021.
Harry was a wonderful, loving, funny man with a heart as big as a mountain! He enjoyed woodworking, playing bingo, vintage cars, and spending time on the creek, fishing, or up a wooded road on one of our adventures, He was never so happy though as when he was in the kitchen whipping up something delicious for his family with Shania Twain blasting over the stereo or listening to the Country Jamboree.
Harry had a tough start in life but did the best he could and was loved and respect by many. Recently, health issues limited his ability to follow some of these activities, but always that Cape Breton temperance kept him trying. He loved his pasta and Apohaqui ice cream even though he wasn't supposed to have it.
At home he could be found on his computer, chatting with family and friends, or drawing up new designs for clocks and houses.
Harry leaves behind his life partner and soulmate Mary Lawrence/MacKinley; his sisters: Dale (Edward Gorman) and Diane both of Nova Scotia; his children (both blood and by heart): Owen MacKinley (Kirsten) of Alberta, Holly MacKinley, (Tony) of Alberta, Monica Lawrence (Robert) of Ontario, his "Favorite Baby Girl", Heather-lyn Lawrence of Sussex and Ruby Linfield (Eugene) of Sussex; his five grandchildren: Cassandra (Travis), Seamus (Sierra), Ryan and Codey, Alexander, and Hailey; as well as his ex- wife, Cathy (Hearn); several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews across Canada and the USA.
Harry is predeceased by his grandson, Michael Kraszewski (2019) and senior members of the family.
Arrangement s have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive Sussex (506-433-1176). No service is planned at this time. As per Harry's wishes we ask that you celebrate his life as you see fit.
Donations in lieu of floral tributes may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Nature Conservancy of Canada, or the charity of your choice.
Harry's family would like to thank the staff and administration of Kiwanis Nursing Home and to Dr. Allaby in Sussex, NB for their care and concern for Harry over these last years.
