Helen was born in Ratter Corner on August 18, 1928, to Herbert Campbell of Ratter Corner and Ethel (Otis) Campbell of Clover Hill. Other than raising seven children, Helen also worked as a waitress and grocery clerk until her retirement at age 60. She loved playing cribbage and was a familiar face at Thursday night Cribbage at the Sussex Legion. Playing scrabble with her daughter, Cathy was a favorite past time, as was the daily crossword. In her younger years, Helen was an avid bowler and also enjoyed playing darts. Helen was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch #20 Ladies Auxiliary where she volunteered several hours. She was also a member of St. Paul's United Church.
