Obituary of Rosalie Lavaughn Burton
The family of Mrs. Rosalie Lavaughn Burton of Sussex are saddened to announce her passing on November 8th, 2021 at the age of 93.
Rose was born in Kentville, Nova Scotia on December 17, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents Barry and Novivia (Rogers) Schofield, her brother John Scofield, her sister Lorraine Leonardis, her husband Delmer and her son-in-law William "Bill" Rushton.
She will continue to live on in the hearts of her family. Daughters: Sharon Rushton of Sussex, Colleen Murphy (Bill) of Sussex, Judy Paulson (Al) of Bedford, Kathy Manklow (Ron) of Sussex. Son, Andrew Burton (Linda) of Sussex. Proud grandmother of: Kelly Coughlan (Brad) of Millbrook, Carman Rushton (Sue Brown) of Riverbank, Sean Murphy (Genny DeMerchant) of Nepean, Heather Richter (Michael) of Regina, Ian Paulson (Angie Lane) of Kelowna, Heather Richardson (Dan) of Woodstock, Carrie Lecoure (Jason) of Moncton, Jacob Burton (Megan) of Mooseman, Hollie Burton (John Walton) of Berwick; Eight great grandchildren: Cade, Kathryn, Tyler, Chole, Kyle, Madeline, Ava and Cohen.
Rose mastered many skills, from cooking, baking, sewing and knitting. She had many talents that she often didn’t recognize. She enjoyed the Women’s Auxiliary, Curling and time at The Lake. Raising five children certainly kept her busy and outside of her family, her true love was the outdoors. She could often be found working in her gardens, cutting grass, shovelling snow or enjoying very early morning coffee on the deck.
Mom’s love for her family was unconditional. She was a private person but always had time for her children and grandchildren. . She was resourceful and loved the simple things in life.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex. A private family service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
Donations in memory of Rose may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice if so chosen.
The family would like to express their deepest thanks to Dr. Sunita MacMullin, Dr. Elizabeth Phillips, Dr. Kendra Gilmore and the Sussex Extra Mural nursing staff for all of their exceptional care, compassion and kindness, it will never be forgotten.
