Ruby was born in England on November 4, 1922; she was the daughter of the late William and Alice (Clarke) Poxon and was the wife of the late Robert Proctor who passed away in 1999. Ruby and her family lived on the Elvaston Castle grounds in Derbyshire, England. In her youth, Ruby worked at Faire Bros and Co. Ltd in Leicester, England. Ruby and Bob were married at the Elvaston Church. She left England June 6th, 1945 on a ship called "Scythia". She arrived at Pier 21 Halifax, NS June 15th, 1945 and came to Sussex alone because Bob had to stay behind because of the war. Ruby stayed with Bob's parents and family. She didn't know at the time that she was pregnant with her daughter Pam. Bob joined Ruby August 6, 1945.
