On behalf of my family I would like to express my condolences to Victor's family. I too have fond memories of Victor. He used to check in on me at my businesses or on Arnold Ave. We had many good laughs and I certainly appreciated our time talking. His passion as a businessman was evident until his passing. He was certainly a person to which you could draw inspiration. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

To the families: Mr Black was a part of Sussex as long as I can remember. It was fun to shop at the Blacks stores. My father got his suits and the Men’s Wear and when getting him ready for that special occasion, I asked him if he needed his suit pressed. He said he had been buying his suits there for years, why do I need to get it pressed because it is still in the garment bag. That is the kind of service he provided. My sympathy for your loss.

To the BLACK family.
Victor will be sadly missed.
He had a passion for nice cars, and always knew what he wanted. We did a lot of trading over 25 years and he was a tough negotiator; but we would meet in the middle, and close on a hand shake.
At the coffee shop with all the " old " boys, we talked politics, cars and money. We had lots of laughs. and we became good friends.
I will miss his banter and sharp wit.

I was so saddened to hear of Victor’s passing. I first met “Mister” when I went to work at Blacks Fashions in the 1980’s and have always had such respect for him and Edith. I remember how he loved to sit at the front of the store chatting with the gentlemen while their wives shopped. At Christmas time when the men came in shopping for the perfect gifts for their wives or girlfriends, Mister would step right in to help wrap up their purchases. I will always cherish the memories of my time working for this gentleman. Deepest condolences are extended to Edith and the family from myself and my husband. Condolences to the Black family. I truly enjoyed time with Mr. Black at the store, when visiting their home, at church, or in the street. He was always willing to give me the time. My father, the late Rev. Sterling Gosman, respected Mr. Black and knew him since his days as a Fredericton businessman. That respect would only grow when I served as his and beloved wife Edith's pastor at what was then Sussex Wesleyan Church (Encounter Church). What I appreciate most about him was his commitment to excellence, his faith, and to family, most notably to Edith. "Well done, good and faithful servant." You'll be missed.
