Obituary of Rutger de Gooyer
Rutger “Ronald” de Gooyer, 79, of Parleeville, passed away peacefully at the Sussex Health Centre on December 7, 2014. Born in Bennekom, The Netherlands, he was a son of the late Willem and Cornelia (nee van de Berg) de Gooyer. Ron enjoyed being a member of St. Paul’s United Church Choir, and he loved being a dairy farmer, especially being out with his work horses. Family was very important to Ron, and he took great pleasure in spending time with them whenever possible. He is survived by his loving wife Willie de Gooyer (nee van de Kleut); his children: Willem de Gooyer (Lisa) of New Denmark, Nicky Robinson (John) of Sussex, Cora Royce (Scott) of Fergus, ON, John de Gooyer of Lower Millstream, and Ron de Gooyer (Terri) of Lower Millstream; his sisters: Heinie Lieftink (Dick) and Riek de Gooyer, all of Bennekom, The Netherlands; his grandchildren: David, Matthew, Jenna, Marcus, John, Greg, Kelly, Gabrielle, Jonathan, Ryan, Brett, Evan, and Shawn; as well as by other extended family members and friends. Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Rachelle. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, from where visitation will be held on Thursday December 11, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A private funeral service will be held. Interment will be in the Riverbank Cemetery. Donations to the St. Paul’s United Church would be appreciated by the family.
