Obituary of Ivy M. Carten

Ivy Marguerite (Chambers) Carten It is with loving sadness that the family of Ivy announces her passing at the Sussex Health Centre on October 6, 2016. Born November 23, 1929, in Urney, NB, daughter of the late Norman and Annie (Dalling) Chambers and wife of the late Irvine John Carten. Ivy was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She always had a cup of tea for everyone who came to visit and her door was always open. She was a hard worker and was constantly baking. She enjoyed looking after the animals and her garden. Ivy is survived by her two daughters: Frances (Alden) Harding of BC and Betty (Earle) Floyd of Apohaqui; her three sons: Peter Carten, Paul Carten (Pat Seeley), and Stephen (Crystal) Carten; her chosen daughter Joanna Polley; grandchildren: Bryant (Stacey Tarr) Floyd, Melissa (Peter) Coughlan, Anthony and Matthew Harding, Bailey Carten, Matthew (Jessica Rouse) Carten, Abigail, Dylan and Hannah Carten, Jayne, Jackie and Jim Seeley; great grandchild, Edward Carten; four sisters: Myrtle Chapman of Saint John, Marjorie Braman of Norton, Florence (Gordon) MacArthur of Sussex and Alice (Paul) Parlee of Quispamsis; one brother, Russell (Annie) Chambers of Moncton as well as by several nieces and nephews. Ivy was predeceased by brothers Lemuel, Charles and Harold and by sisters Mary, Lucy, Freda and Jean. Arrangements are in the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, NB (506) 433-2133 from where visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 from St. Francis Xavier Church at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Wards Creek Cemetery. Donations in Ivy’s memory can be made to Alzheimer’s Society or the Charity of your choice.
