Obituary of Lois Jane Ravn
The death of Lois Jane (Folkins) Ravn occurred October 21st at the Sussex Health Centre. Lois was born on December 21st, 1932 on the family farm in Midland, NB. She was the daughter of the late Marshall and Elizabeth (Haslam) Folkins and wife of the late Gunnar Ravn. Lois graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1954 from the Saint John General Hospital and married Gunnar on October 16th, 1954. She was an avid gardener and bird watcher and enjoyed quilting and knitting. She was a long time active member of St. John’s United Church in Sussex Corner. One of her most favorite activities was playing board games by the hour with her grandchildren. Lois will be remembered for her kind and gentle nature and her warm sweet smile which she shared with her family until the end. Lois is survived by her loving children: Christine (Humphrey) Sheehan, Mark (Laura) Ravn, Carol (John) Arnold and Lorrie (David) Watson; her daughter-in-law Jodi Ravn; her cherished grandchildren: Erin (Ben) MacPhee, Jennifer (Derick) Dirmaier, John Sheehan, Rebecca (Cory Wensley) Sheehan, Cally Ravn, Zachary Ravn, Jacob Ravn, Jeremy (Kelly) Arnold, Michael (Kathleen) Arnold, Bradley (Brianne Doney) Watson, Hannah Watson, Evan Watson, Eric, Alex and Nicholas Ravn; great grandchildren: Alexa, Connor, Jocelyn, Mason, Kellie, Lane and Colin; her cousin Dale Morrison of Saskatoon as well as several treasured nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Lois was predeceased by her son Lloyd in May 2016, her brothers: Leonard and George Folkins and her sisters Doris O’Neill and Helen Brooks. The family would like to thank Jan King for her friendship and loving care as well as Dr. Sharon McCutcheon and the staff of the Sussex Health Centre, especially Courtney Critchley for her compassion. Arrangements are in the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, NB (506) 433-2133 from where visitation will be held on Sunday, October 23rd from 4-7pm. A service celebrating Lois’s life will be held on Monday, October 24th at 11:00am from St. John’s United Church.
