The death of Joseph Patton Doherty of Apohaqui occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on December 25, 2009 at the age of 80. Born at Jerusalem, Queens County, New Brunswick a son of the late Joseph and Sarah (Campbell) Doherty, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Joseph is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joan (Pagett) Doherty, daughter Sandra Doherty of Waterloo, ON, sons Larry (Jackie) Doherty of Bloomfield and Stephen Doherty of Dartmouth, NS, grandchildren Jessica and Joseph and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Sam, Albert and Ernie. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday December 28, 2009 at 10:00AM in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Tom Robinson officiating. A private family interment will be held at Riverbank Cemetery at a later date. Donations made to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
