The death of John Alexander Coates of Four Corners, NB occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on July 28, 2006 at the age of 84. Born at Mount Pisgah, NB a son of the late Irvine and Adelia (Leake) Coates. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Edith L. (Carll) Coates, daughters; Shirley Douthwright of Sussex and Phyllis (Ora) Lackie of Smith Creek, son Carl (Margaret) Coates of Bonneyville, AB, 11 grandchildren, Michelle Douthwright, Michael Douthwright (Laureen), Danielle Douthwright, Matthew Douthwright (Corinne), Kim Lackie (Doug), Richard Lackie (Michele), Dennis Lackie (Julie), Peter Lackie (Sherrilyn), John Lackie (Shannon), Dean Lackie (Amy) and Derek Lackie (Holly), 10 great grandchildren, Dalton, Libby, Hunter, Ethan, Lucas, Jacob, Taylor, Ashley, Caleb and Daxon, brother Irvine Coates of Sussex, sisters Annie Floyd of Apohaqui, Adelia (Maynard) Mercer of Fennell Subdivision and Florence McFarlane of Sussex. He was predeceased by sisters Hazel and Ruth Coates, Doris Boyko and Jane Carll, brother Andrew Coates and son-in-law D. Spargo Douthwright. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, (506-433-2133) on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9PM. The funeral service will be held at St. Paul’s United Church, Sussex on Monday July 31, 2006 at 11AM with Jeanette Cosman SAM officiating. Interment will take place at the Gosline Cemetery, Knightville. As expressions of sympathy donations made to St. Paul’s United Church or the Gosline Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
