Obituary of Gerald Mullin
Gerald “Jake” Earnest Mullin of McGregor Brook, NB passed away peacefully at the Sussex Health Centre on Wednesday August 23, 2017 with family by his side.
Born in Gaspe, Quebec on November 9, 1923, he was a son of the late Jane (nee Langudoc) and Alpheus Mullin. Jake was predeceased by his wife Norma in 2000; his three sons: Terry in 1994, Owen in 2003, and Eric in 2006; and by his 9 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by four daughters: Debbie McCready (Bill) of McGregor Brook, Marj Mullin of Saint John, Elaine Hale (Ross), and Linda Mullin, all of Chatham, ON. Jake is also survived by his three sons: Ron Mullin (Shirley) of Dutton, ON, Leigh Mullin of Knightville, and Paul Mullin (Jean) of Leamington, ON; as well as by 24 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, many extended family members and friends.
Jake was a WWII veteran and on June 5, 1941 he joined the 110th Squadron of the Royal Canadian Engineers. He served in Scotland, England, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. Jake Mullin worked as a well-driller and retired in 2000. He will be remembered for his competitive card playing, his lawn (“field”) mowing, his sense of humour, and his love of pets. Jake was loved by all of his large family and extended family and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, NB (506-433-2133) from where visitation will be held on Saturday August 26, 2017 from 6-8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Sunday August 27, 2017 at 1:00 pm with Jeanette Cosman presiding in the funeral home chapel.
Interment will be held in the Goseline Cemetery. Donations to Mullin’s Mile would be appreciated by the family.
