Marion “Pat” Irene Smith, 86, of Sussex passed away on January 2, 2013 at the Sussex Health Centre. Born in Kapuskasing, ON, Pat moved to Campbellton, N.B. as a child with her family. She received her education there graduating from high school before moving to Kitchener-Waterloo, with friends to seek employment. After her marriage to Joseph “Joe” Davis, they lived in Montreal with their two children. Their final move brought them to Sussex, N.B., where their children started school. Pat was a daughter of the late Charles and Margaret (nee Campbell) Edgren. Pat is survived by her loving husband, Cameron Smith; daughter, Betty Joe Melnyk of Belleville, ON; sister, Joyce Shephard of Point Claire, Quebec; brother, Charles D. Edgren of Halifax, N.S.; daughter-in-law, Marla Davis; grandchildren: Darcy McEwen, Lindsay DeClou, and Joshua, Carah and Noah Davis; great grandchildren, Eric, Isaac, Sydney, Liam, and Lauren McEwen; niece, Susan Shephard; and nephews: Rod Jellett, Mitchell Shephard and Jon Richardson; step-daughter, Catherine Smith; step-son, Gillis (Rachel) Smith Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Joe Davis; son, Charles Lyle; and sister, Vimy Richardson. Pat took great interest in her church, St. Paul’s United, as a member of the United Church Women and was a volunteer with meals on wheels. She also volunteered at Kiwanis Nursing Home, the Tourist Bureau and was an honorary member of the Kiwanis Club supporting its charitable work. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sussex Select Community Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 11, from 6-9pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11:00am at St. Paul’s United Church. Interment will be held at the Kirk Hill Cemetery at a later date.
