Veronica was born in 1915 in Goshen, to Jeremiah and Loretta Layden. She moved to Boston at the age of 21 years, where she worked at Fannie Farmers Chocolate Factory for many years. She married her beloved husband John J. MacDonald Sr. "Arnold" and they settled down to start their family. She and Arnold, along with her sister Eileen and her husband Walter, owned and operated a store in Dorchester, called Mt. Vernon Spa, for many years. Veron lived in the Boston area until moving to Quincy in 1986. After losing her beloved Arnold in 1991 , Veron lived the rest of her life being a loving mother and grandmother. Veron enjoyed playing the fiddle and dancing, playing cards, and returning home to Goshen every year up until the age of 92. Family was everything to Veron. She knew her extraordinary life was due to the love and support from her beloved children and grandchildren.
