The death of James A. “Joe” Morton of Portage Vale and formerly of Sussex occurred at his residence on January 26, 2007 at the age of 85. Born at Wheaton Settlement, NB a son of the late Noble and Mary (Steeves) Morton and was the husband of the late Lillian D. Morton who passed away in 2005. He is survived by sons; Dr. Richard Morton (Diane) of Riverview and Wayne Reeder (Ellen) of Oregon, grandchildren; Andy and Scott Reader, Carolyn MacNaughton, Alex, Ian and Craig Morton, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by sisters; Edith, Lena, Nellie, Norma and Margarete and brother Harold. Joe enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of the Sussex Fish & Game, NB Wildlife Federation and the Sussex Golf and Curling Club in years past. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) on Tuesday from 7-9PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday January 31, 2007 at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at Trinity Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations made to the Danny and Jessica Angel Foundation would be appreciated.
