The death of Laura May MacKenzie occurred on March 11, 2008 at the Kiwanis Nursing Home, at the age of 94. Born in Urney, NB, a daughter of the late Samuel and Lucy (Snider) Shannon. Laura was the wife of the late Herman Douglas MacKenzie who passed away in 1982. She is survived by her children; Merle (Jean) MacKenzie of Picadilly, Donna Bustin of Penobsquis, Betty (Erich) Lauterbach of London, ON and Lloyd (Janet) MacKenzie of Amherst, NS, 14 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, sister Freda (Victor) Morrow of Mississauga, ON, sister-in-law Mildred Shannon of Rockville and several nieces and nephews. Laura was predeceased by her parents, husband, sister Austella Robinson, brothers; Russell and Robert Shannon, brother-in-law Willard Robinson, son-in-law Dale Bustin and great granddaughter Cleo Grace Bustin. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday March 13, 2008 at 2:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Reverend Eugene Fisher officiating. Interment will be at Pioneer Cemetery at a later date. Donations made to the Kiwanis Nursing Home, St. John’s United Church or the Canadian Red Cross would be appreciated.
