Obituary of Marjorie A. Bunnell

Marjorie Anna (O’Neill) Bunnell started her next journey on February 27, 2011. She was born in Belleisle, October 27, 1925, the daughter of the late James and Alice O’Neill. Upon their deaths, she was lovingly raised by Florence “Nana” Markham, Sussex Corner. Marjorie graduated from Sussex High School getting her Secretarial Diploma from Moncton Business School. Her career then began with DOT, working up to becoming secretary for the District Road Commissioner. While working for DOT she met her future husband Albert. They married September 3, 1950. Together they raised their children, David (Darlene) of Miramichi and Lois (Bob) at home. Marjorie, as passed down from Nana, had a love for her corner church, whether as a Sunday School Teacher, CGIT Leader or organist and choir director. She served them well for many years. She also served as supply organist for local churches. Marjorie also shared her music through award winning school choirs and private piano and vocal students, some of whom credited her interest in them to guide them to their own musical careers. Marjorie loved to knit (some original designs went to Japan), sew read and shop, especially for antiques and her blue milk glass. She had a great ability to barter. Her dogs were always “special”. She also grew award winning gladiolas. Marjorie is survived by her children; her sister Dorothy Eldridge of Homestead FL, sisters-in-law; Margaret O’Neill of Fredericton and Delores Bunnell of Surrey BC, special daughter Helen of Australia, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and of course Holly and Mitzou. Besides her husband of 60 years, Albert, Marjorie was predeceased by her brother Clifford, sister Muriel and Albert’s siblings George, Murray and Eleanor. At Marjorie’s request, there will be cremation with a private interment at a later date. In her memory donations made to the Sussex Dialysis Unit or St. James & St. John United Church Organ Fund (Miramichi) would be appreciated. Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133).
