Obituary of Raymond Walker O'Connor
The passing of Raymond Walker O’Connor, 89, of Springdale, NB, occurred on Friday October 17, 2014 at the Sussex health Centre. Born on October 23, 1924 in Goshen, NB, he was a son of the late Harry and Teresa (nee Curran) O’Connor. Raymond was employed with the City Transit Bus Company as a Bus Driver from 1952 until 1968. He was also employed for many years with Lockhart’s Limited, both in Saint John and Sussex, until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church in Sussex. He retired from Lockhart’s Beaver Lumber after 23 years to enjoy his family, wood, and farm animals. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 53 years, Frances O’Connor (nee Perkins); his son, Christopher O’Connor of Saint John; his two daughters: Catherine O’Connor of Grand Bay-Westfield and Carolyn Ritchie (Peter) of Smiths Creek, NB; his four grandchildren: Ashley Tupper (Chad), Andrew Basque, Hannah and Matthew Ritchie; his great-granddaughter Hailey Tupper; his brother Walter of Rhode Island; his two sisters: Rita Mullaney of Warwick, Rhode Island and Stella Fogarty (Gerry) of Bedford, NS, as well as by many extended family members and friends. Besides his parents, Raymond was predeceased by his brothers: Austin, Clement, Everett, and Murray O’Connor, and his sister, Ethel O’Connor. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex, from where visitation will be held on Sunday October 19, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday October 20, 2014 at 11:00 am with Father Arnie Hachey presiding in St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be held in the South Branch Cemetery. Donations to the Kidney Foundation, the South Branch Cemetery Fund, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
