With great sadness, the Thorne family announces the sudden passing of Mr. Glendon Vernon Thorne on August 1st, 2016. Glenn was the son of the late Vernon and Margaret (Crossman) Thorne and husband of the late Shirley Ann (Richardson) Thorne who passed away in 2004. Glenn was a past member of the Sussex Fire Department for over twenty years; retired from the School Board after several years of service and was also an avid New Jersey Devils Fan. Most importantly, a loving father and grandfather. Glenn is survived by his sons: Scott Thorne and Grant Thorne (Taija Maxwell); his grandchildren: Courtney Higgins, Samantha Armstrong, Danika Thorne and Elexa Thorne as well as many friends he made throughout his life. Glenn is predeceased by his parents, his wife Shirley Ann and by his infant son Shawn Michael. Arrangements are entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home. A service celebrating Glenn’s life will be held from the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11:00am.
