Obituary of Ted Keating
Ted was born in Cork, Ireland on February 17, 1918; he was the son of the late John and Eleen (O'Brien) Keating. Ted was a 3rd Engineer with the British Merchant Navy during WWII. He served from1939 to the end of hostilities and was decorated with several Service Medals: 1939-1945 Star; Atlantic Star; Burma Star; Italy Star and the Defense Medal. Ted was a Chief Engineer having retired after 15 years of services with Baxter Foods; he was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch # 20. He is survived by Margaret, his beloved wife of 61 years, three daughters: Susan Myrvang and her husband Dagfinn of Montreal, Quebec, Gillian Keating and Sheila Hughes and her husband Ron all of Alberta; his son, David Keating and his wife Rosemary of London, Ontario, eight grandchildren: Lynn, Nancy, Andrea, Colin, Lyndsay, Katie, Hannah and Laura, his brother-in-law Derek Hobbs of London, England, as well as several nieces and nephews. Ted was the last surviving member of his immediate family; he was predeceased by his brother Finnbor and two sisters Kay and Mary.
