DeLong, Pearl Muriel, 89, of Sussex Corner, passed away peacefully at the Sussex Health Centre on April 15, 2013. Born on March 20, 1924 in Penobsquis, NB, she was a daughter of the late Heber and Marie (nee Branscombe) McQuinn. Pearl enjoyed being involved with the community, as a life member of the Sussex Health Centre Auxiliary as well as a life member of the Sussex Baptist Church Women’s Missionary Society. Pearl is survived by her daughters: Barbara Chestnut (Fred) of Mount Hebron, and Muriel DeLong of Hampton; her sons: Clifford DeLong (Joan) of Quispamsis, and Robert DeLong (Cathy) of Fredericton; her grandchildren: Derreck DeLong (Lorrie), and Jeffery DeLong (Laura); her great-grandchildren: Kyle, Rebekah and Taylor DeLong, and Madelyn DeLong; sisters-in-law: Mary Powers, Sharon, Shirley and Ernestine DeLong; brother-in-law, David DeLong (Marilyn); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides her parents, Pearl was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Gordon, in 2007; and her brothers: Dr. Leslie McQuinn (Alice) and Burton McQuinn (Jayne). Arrangements have been entrusted to Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, where visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A celebration of Pearl’s life will take place on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 2:00pm at the Sussex Baptist Church. Interment will take place at Pioneer Cemetery. Donations to the Sussex Health Centre Auxiliary, Sussex Baptist Church WMS, or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
