The death of Jean Marie (Goddard) Buchanan of Sussex occurred on October 16, 2008 at the age of 76. Jean was born at South Branch, NB a daughter of the late Welton and Birdie (Smith) Goddard and was the wife of the late Douglas C. Buchanan who passed away in 2004. Jean is survived by her daughter Judy Proctor of Sussex, her son Richard (Dianne) Buchanan of Sussex Corner, grandchildren; Troy Proctor, Tracy Proctor (Deane Dickinson), Shane Coates (Marilyn) and Crystal Buchanan (Marshall Munroe), great grandchildren Elijah and Kassandra, sisters; Mary Shea of Springdale, Beulah (Allison) Forsythe of Sussex and Vivian Williamson of Halifax, brother Arthur (Sheila) Goddard of Saint John, brother-in-law Donald (Yvonne) Buchanan of Belleisle and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was predeceased by a son Brian Buchanan, son-in-law Harold Proctor, sisters Laura Bradley and Margaret Dunfield and brother Charlie Goddard. Jean was a member of Trinity Anglican Church, she was an avid Bingo player and loved to go bowling and enjoyed playing cards, especially Auction 45’s. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday October 20, 2008 at 11:00AM at Trinity Anglican Church with the Venerable David J. Barrett officiating. Interment will be at Trinity Cemetery, Sussex Corner. Donations made to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
