Obituary of Ethel I. Parlee

The death of Ethel I. Parlee of Sussex occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on March 25, 2006 at the age of 95. Ethel was born at Anagance Ridge, NB a daughter of the late William and Nina (Church) Patterson. She was the wife of the late Hedley T. Parlee (2003) and the late Ellsworth P. Scott (1969). Ethel is survived by her sister Doris Savoie of Sussex, brother Burton Patterson of Mississauga, ON, step-son Vernon Scott of Fredericton, several nieces and nephews and her care givers and friends Angie Henderson and Dale Kyrev. She was predeceased by sisters; Laurina (Dunfield) Smith, Myrtle (Mann) Mortenson, Agnes Waddell, Mabel Howard and Florence Krahn and brothers Lawrence, Harold and Frances "Frank" Patterson. Ethel loved to crochet, knit and quilt. In 1996 she crocheted a table cloth for her friend. She loved to travel and went on many tours with Baptist Fellowship Tours of Toronto to; Scandinavia, Australia, New Zealand, England, Scotland, Wales and Newfoundland. She was a cashier at Deluxe French Fries, Rothesay Avenue for many years. After her first husband died, she lived in Vancouver for a few years. After her return to Saint John she worked at the Salvation Army as a cook until her retirement in 1984. Ethel lived in Sussex since her marriage to Hedley in 1984. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road, Sussex (506-433-2133) on Monday from 2-5 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 28, 2006 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will take place at Berwick Cemetery. No flowers by request. Donations to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
