Obituary of Freda Hazel Kelly
On September 24, 2014 Freda Hazel (nee Kierstead) Kelly, 82, of Sussex, went to be with her Lord. Her family is comforted in the knowledge that she is safe in the arms of Jesus. Born in Snider Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Martha (nee Beck) Kierstead. Freda worked for the Department of Natural Resources for 20 years. She was a Literacy Council Member, and also remained active within her church as a youth worker and Bible teacher. She is survived by her daughters: Bertha (Alton) Chown of Kierstead Mountain, Hazel (Randy) Matheson of Salisbury, Dale Kelly-Burke of Falmouth N.S.; her son, Ashley “Leigh” Kelly of Wheaton Settlement; her sister, Myrtle Goddard of Waterford; as well as 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends. Besides her parents, Freda was predeceased by her son, Stephen; brothers: Ervin, Earl, and Albert; her sisters: Arvilla Kelly, Vera Kierstead, and Bertha Moore; and her great-grandson, Matthew Rouse. Arrangements have been entrusted to the professional care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home from where visitation will be held on Friday from 7-9 pm and Saturday from 2-4 pm; the funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Faith Bible Baptist Fellowship with Pastor Tim MacDonald presiding. The interment will be held in the Kierstead Mountain Cemetery.
