Obituary of Sidney G. Packman

Packman, Sidney George, 79, of Sussex Corner, NB, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, from complications after a fall. Sid was born in Dartford, Kent County, England, on Oct. 12, 1933. He was the eldest son of Sidney Herbert and Beatrice Maud Elizabeth (Barnes) Packman. He had an older sister, Doris (Len), and a younger brother, David. Growing up on a farm during World War II lead to a life-long interest in both subjects. While working as a stationary engineer, he found some of his greatest joy growing things and working with draft horses. In his spare time, he read extensively on military history. He was also well known in his community for his long walks with his dog. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Margaret (Bartlett), daughters Donna (Bill) High; Vanessa Packman, and Alison Cole (Paul) and son Neil (Chantale). He also had eight grandchildren. The family has elected to cremate his remains and bring them home. A small family gathering will be held later. There will be no funeral or visitations in honour of Dad's wishes. Arrangements are being handled through Sussex Select Funeral Home, Sussex. www.sussexfh.com The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Sussex Health Centre or a charity of your choice.
