The death of Burton Leslie Teakles of Penobsquis occurred on May 18, 2005 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Penobsquis, he was a son of the late Joseph and Leadocia (Cook) Teakles. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary F. (Drummond) Teakles, daughter Susan Floyd (Walter) of Sussex, sons Donald (Linda) of Rexton, Gerald (Joanne) of Penobsquis, John (Joanne) of Sussex Corner, Allan (Denise) of Penobsquis and James (June) of Penobsquis, sisters Ella Brown of Barnesville and Laura Drummond of Upperton, brother Everett (Gertrude) Teakles of St. Andrews, twenty-one grandchildren and six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Burton was predeceased by a sister Gladys Moore. The family will receive visitors at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home, 21 Aiton Road Sussex (506-433-2133) on Thursday 7-9 PM and on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Sussex Branch #20 Royal Canadian Legion will hold a Tribute at the funeral home on Friday at 6:45 PM. The funeral service will be held at the Penobsquis United Baptist Church on Saturday May 21, 2005 at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at Cardwell Cemetery, Penobsquis.
