The death of Earl Curtis Long, husband of Patricia E. (Lister) Long of Antigonish, NS, occurred at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish on January 3, 2009. Earl was born at Lakeside, NB in 1936, a son of the late George and Viola (McLaughlin) Long. Earl and Pat moved to Riverview, NB in 1962 and for many years operated Long’s Convenience Store, until moving to Antigonish in 1995. In addition to his wife Pat, Earl is survived by three sons; Murray and Carol of Antigonish, Robert and Debbie of Edmonton, AB and Rodney and Beth of Victoria, BC, four grandchildren; Shannon Long (Stephen) and Michelle Long, both of Antigonish and Jaimie Long (Rob) and Robert Long, both of Edmonton, AB, his sister Evelyn Dixon and Claude of Rothesay, NB, his brother George Long and Moyra of Sussex, NB, one niece, four nephews and one great nephew. Earl was predeceased by an infant brother William George. The funeral arrangements are in the care of Sussex Select Community Funeral Home (506-433-2133). The family will receive visitors at the Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Road, Riverview (506-857-9544) on Tuesday January 6, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-9PM. The funeral service will be held Thursday January 8, 2009 at 2:00PM at Trinity Anglican Church, Sussex, with the Venerable David J. Barrett officiating. Interment will be in the family lot at Midland Cemetery, Midland, NB. Donations made to St. Martha’s Hospital Foundation, The Dobson Hiking Trail or the Canso United Baptist Church would be appreciated.
